Battle Ground is the retail and service hub for northern Clark County sitting on top of one of the youngest housing stocks in our service area. That combination makes it a different job from the older river towns south of it. These eight topics cover what changes.
Roughly 80 percent of Battle Ground housing was built in 1990 or later, with the single biggest decade being the 2000s at about 29 percent, and the census estimates behind those figures lag a city that is still growing. In practice that means supply is copper, PEX or CPVC and drains are ABS or PVC. There is no meaningful galvanized inventory here. The work is water heaters reaching the end of their run, angle stops and supply risers, hose bibs split after a freeze, garbage disposals, sump pumps, and drains that have quietly accumulated twenty years of ordinary household use.
About 11 percent of Battle Ground housing was built in the 1970s, and it is the only band in the city with a real material question attached. Old Town Battle Ground runs along Main Street, and the City’s own Main Street planning splits it into three sections, Dispersed, Park and Compact. The Compact section is the one with edge-to-edge storefronts and a traditional walkable main-street form, and edge-to-edge is the operative phrase for plumbing.
